Chief Financial Officer


Steve Svendsen has successfully served in a CFO capacity for 20 years for both small and middle‐market companies and has directly negotiated numerous loan agreements, asset purchase agreements and ERP implementation agreements. Steve has extensive experience in retail, distribution, not‐for‐profits, logistics and manufacturing. Steve is a CPA with Big 4 experience and serves in leadership positions on multiple not‐for‐profit organization boards.

Upon graduation from Illinois State University and successful completion of the CPA examination, Steve joined Arthur Andersen & Co. as a staff auditor in 1982. While at Andersen, Steve served on numerous engagements including Brunswick, Field Enterprises (Chicago Sun Times), Hilton Enterprises, St. Joseph Hospital and Edward Hines Lumber Co.

After three years on the Hines engagement Steve accepted an offer of employment from the company as Senior Accountant. At that time, Hines was a publicly traded company on the New York Stock Exchange. Shortly after joining Hines, Steve assisted the Hines family in taking the company private. Upon culmination of the going private transaction, Steve was consistently promoted over the next few years to Corporate Accounting Manager, Assistant Controller, Treasurer and ultimately Chief Financial Officer. Steve served as CFO for 15 years and left Hines in 2009 after assisting the Hines family in the sale of the business to a private equity firm. While at Hines, Steve was instrumental in helping the company grow from $100 million to $260 million in revenue.

After Hines, Steve joined Dwyer Products Corporation as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer where he stayed until 2011 when he founded Chicago Transom Partners (CTP).

CTP provides management consulting, IT solutions and back office services to a diverse group of organizations throughout greater Chicagoland. Specialty areas include CFO services, liquidity management, managed services and Salesforce CRM implementation. CTP supports in excess of 50 clients including:

  • Grand Appliance & TV

  • The Boys & Girls Club of Lake County

  • Sigma Services Corporation

  • Elite Cable Communications LLC

  • Illinois Masonry Corporation

  • Bernie’s Book Bank

After working with Acceleration Academies for 18 months in an advisory role Steve joined the company full time on January 1, 2016 as Chief financial Officer.

Steve lives with his wife Gillian and daughter Sara in his home town of Lake Bluff, IL. Steve serves on the board of the Boys and Girls Club of Lake County and is the organization’s President.
