Darlene Burch came to Acceleration Academy after spending 14 years as a classroom and online educator. She has taught mostly social science courses over this fourteen year time period. Prior to a career in the education field, Darlene had a successful career in corporate America, working in the mortgage banking industry.  She also has countless hours over the past 30 years volunteering with many local charities to help others with life-changing situations such as homelessness or unplanned pregnancies.
Darlene received her bachelor’s degree in education from the University of South Florida in Tampa,  and her master’s degree in psychology and counseling from Liberty University in Virginia.

Darlene believes everyone should have the opportunity to a learning environment that allows them to achieve at their full capacity and be encouraged to go beyond.
She enjoys spending time with her husband and their three amazing adult children.

Favorite or most significant year in school and why:  4th grade - Best teacher ever, Ms. Sussick, took the class on a trip around the world by learning about states, countries, and their cultures. She made it seem as if we were really visiting a state or country. I read The Island of the Blue Dolphins at least 3 times that year.

Favorite book: The Bible, it has everything in it I need to know.

Real-world superpower:  Have fun, dance in the rain, eat cupcakes for breakfast---life is too short.
